Artadentro exhibits works by Michael Biberstein at the Museum of Faro

Exhibition is held within the scope of the contemporary art cycle “Prayers to chase away storms, evil insects, etc.” of Artadentro and Appleton

The exhibition “Michael Biberstein: sensing the landscape. attentive way to build ground” will be on display from January 11th until February 23rd at the Municipal Museum of Faro.

The exhibition by the artist Michael Biberstein, curated by David Revés, arrives at the Faro museum as part of the contemporary art cycle “Prayers to chase away storms, malignant insects, etc.”, a partnership between Artadentro and Appleton – Associação Cultural.

It is intended that this exhibition constitutes «as the proposal of an integrative look launched into the work of this Swiss-American artist intimately linked to Portugal, where he lived for more than three decades and where he left us prematurely in 2013».

«In the museum space – previously devoted to religious worship – paintings, drawings, sculptures and objects will be presented, organized in a non-chronological way and circulating in a non-privileged way between the different periods of the artist's work: analytical conceptualism, strongly marked by an investigation into linguistic and spatial processes, or the production of landscape genesis for which, moreover, Michael Biberstein is widely recognized», according to Artadentro.

«The possibility of experiencing Michael Biberstein's artistic project as an organic whole is envisaged, the result of a particular worldview that takes the landscape in its condition as a potential encounter of any radicality that underlies the individual, the world and life. This movement towards the landscape, which is present in different intensities throughout his work, is also the movement of another feeling: the one that built a path, of delay and attention, and that defined the aesthetic, but above all, ethical place, of the artist,” he added.

«This place, which Michael Biberstein sought to draw with his poetics, is now the starting point so that, in the exhibition, we can also design our own. A place marked not only by a spiritual affection or an ontological fissure, but which can also be, and for that reason, a political place. Position of the one who, when making his own journey, feels the ground and looks at the horizon», concluded Faro's cultural structure.
