Man trafficked illegal tobacco in the municipality of Loulé

Man engaged in "illicit activity for at least two years"

A 44-year-old man was appointed as a defendant this Thursday, December 12, on suspicion of illegal tobacco sales in the municipality of Loulé.

According to the GNR, the man had been engaged in "illicit activity for at least two years, introducing crushed tobacco originating in Spain into national territory and selling it over the internet."

In total, 1,5 kilos of shredded tobacco, two laptops, five mobile phones, two tablets, 14 pens, four hard drives and a swing were seized.

«It is estimated that the value of tax fraud, in terms of VAT and the Special Tax on Tobacco consumption, amounts to around 78 thousand euros», concludes the GNR.
