The hundred years of Charolas de Bordeira will be celebrated in this locality of the municipality of Faro on the 1st and 6th of January.

Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense has organized a program that starts on the first day of the year, with traditional greetings to the New Year, the day on which a march created especially to celebrate the centenary of this tradition of the Algarve's Barrocal will be premiered.

The presentation of the new musical composition will be made in an initiative scheduled for 11 on January 00st, in the center of Bordeira, which will bring together the six local Charolas.

On the same day, the sounds of tambourines, castanets, irons and accordions will be heard from 14 pm onwards at the Sociedade Bordeirense headquarters, but also throughout the parish of Santa Bárbara de Nexe.

«As tradition dictates, Epiphany is always the most anticipated. On this day, from 10:30 am, the various groups visit the local businesses, greeting the community with spontaneous singing and “cheers” in verses of the stray”, announced Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense.

At 13:00 pm, the 12 charolas invited to participate in the party will begin to act, in a tent that will be installed in the D. Leonor Activities Center, «where it is also possible to taste some of the gastronomic specialties of the Algarve interior».

From 14:30 pm, at the headquarters of Sociedade Bordeirense, the charola meeting continues. Also on the 6th of January, at 20:30 pm, the six Charolas de Bordeira will once again play the centenary march together, at the Dona Leonor Activities Center. The festivities end with a birthday cake and fireworks.
