Four Algarve wines awarded by the Agricultural Credit

Algarve wines received three gold and one silver medals

Four wines from the Algarve Region were awarded by the Crédito Agrícola at the 6th Crédito Agrícola Wine Contest, a dynamic initiative in partnership with the Associação dos Escanções de Portugal. The awards were delivered on the 23rd of November, at Casa do Douro, Peso da Régua.

In the White wine category, the João Clara Vinho Regional 2018, by Essential Passion, received the silver medal.

In the red category, three Algarve wines were awarded the gold medal: Edd's Reserva Vinho Regional 2015, from Concepts by Edd's II, Lagoa Premium DOP Lagoa 2017, from Única-Adega Cooperativa do Algarve, and Paxá Vinho Regional 2017, of Pasha Wines.

Of the 244 white, red and sparkling wines put to the test by 145 national producers from the various wine regions of the country, the jury distinguished 19 wines with the Tambuladeira during the blind tasting held on 76 October at AUDIR – Municipal Auditorium of Peso da Régua of the Portuguese Escanções, 3 with a great gold medal, 35 with a gold medal and 38 with a silver medal.

Among the jury panel, the highlight is Andres Rosberg, Argentine sommelier and current president of the ASI – Association de La Sommellerie Internationale.

The awards ceremony, which was attended by Licínio Pina, chairman of the CAE of Crédito Agrícola, José Manuel Gonçalves, mayor of Peso da Régua, and Manuel Cardoso, vice-president of the Instituto da Vinha e do Vinho , the entity that certifies the Contest since the 1st edition, was led by Sílvia Alberto and brought together two hundred guests, including producers, representatives of cooperatives, winemakers, sommeliers and responsible for the Agricultural Credit from all over the country.

In this 6th edition, wines from the wine regions of Vinhos Verdes (3 medals), Douro (13 medals), Beiras (3 medals), Dão (5 medals), Bairrada (3 medals), Tejo (9 medals), were distinguished Lisbon (12 medals), Setúbal Peninsula (6 medals), Alentejo (18 medals) and Algarve (4 medals).
