Initiative returns to the Algarve capital

The 3rd Spoken Word Festival – Calceteiros de Letras takes place on the 15th, 16th and 17th of November, at the Gimnásio Clube de Faro. 

The festival opens on Friday, the 15th, at 22:03 pm, with “A Gaveta da Pedra”, a project by Rogério Cão accompanied by Tercio Nanook on Guitarra.

Then there will be Poetry Slam Night, with Nuno Piteira and Luís Perdigão.

The Poetry Slam is a practice around the word, which has at its base several rules that involve the performance and original poetry of its participants, a limited time to 3 minutes for their presentations, an audience as a jury that scores each presentation from 0 to 10, the absence of music and accessories and the attribution of symbolic prizes at the end.

There are no suitable styles or themes, but several possible languages.

On Saturday, at 22:03 pm, there will be “Poesia 21”, a selection of 21 contemporary Portuguese and Brazilian poets for the 12st century by the interdisciplinary reading promotion and mediation group “Experiment'arte” founded XNUMX years ago by Paulo Pires and Sónia Pereira, who was joined by pianist Carlos Boita.

Then, on stage “Estilhaços” with Adolfo Luxúria Canibal.

This project was born as a spoken word show in which Adolfo Luxúria Canibal read texts and poems from his book of the same name, accompanied on piano and other keyboards by António Rafael. The format gave rise to the recording of the project's first album, with the same name, published in 2006 by Transporte deanimas Vivos. Later, keeping the same characteristics, it started to count with the participation of Henrique Fernandes (double bass).

For those who want to start the art of saying poetry in public, on Saturday afternoon, they will be able to participate in a Poetry Slam Workshop, organized by Nuno Piteira and Luís Perdigão. It will be at 15:00 pm.

The Festival ends on Sunday, the 17th, at 16 pm, with the hosts Calceteiros de Letras and the presence of guest poets, musicians, dancers and other surprises, followed by the “Somos Som” project with Nuno Piteira and Luís Perdigão.

This late afternoon will culminate with the delivery of the Calceteiros de Letras award (the winner will be announced on the same day), which for the second time will be awarded to an entity that over the years has contributed to the dissemination of word and poetry in a proper way. creative and original.

This award will be created and elaborated by the artist João Frank, who is also the author of videomapping which will be shown at the opening of each of the Festival's sessions.

Tickets cost 6 euros for Friday, 10 euros for Saturday and 5 euros for Sunday. Tickets for the three days cost 15 euros.

Gym members, with dues up to date, do not pay.
