The new photovoltaic plant at the Forum Algarve Auchan saves €100 per year

Company “Sotecnisol Power & Water” won the contract

The Auchan hypermarket (Jumbo), in Faro, will install a photovoltaic plant, allowing savings of 100 euros per year on the electricity bill.

The company “Sotecnisol Power & Water” won the contract to install the equipment.

The project envisages the construction of a photovoltaic plant for self-consumption (UPAC) that will allow for considerable autonomy in electricity consumption.

The commercial department chose the Portuguese company to carry out a project of around 525 thousand euros in investment, and the adaptation of the roof is already underway.

It will be necessary to reinforce and adapt the upper area of the building so that it can receive the 1.650 solar panels, deployed in an area of 6 thousand square meters. This plant will have the capacity to produce 910 kWh, equivalent to the consumption of around 400 homes.

The “implementation of this project will allow Auchan to increase its competitiveness by significantly reducing electricity costs. Reducing the ecological footprint of the Auchan operation in Faro is another asset of this investment», explains the company responsible for the work.

Once in operation, Auchan's photovoltaic power plant will be monitored by the minute, 24 hours a day. Through this remote control it will be possible to monitor energy production, compare production factors and trigger maintenance pickets whenever necessary.

Filipe Bello Morais, chief executive officer from Sotecnisol Power & Water, says that «this work, with an installed capacity of 569,25 kW, demonstrates our company's capacity for the implementation of large photovoltaic plants».

«We are in a moment of energy transition in the country and Sotecnisol Power & Water wants to be part of this movement to reduce the human impact on the planet», he concludes.
