Jamila Madeira: Priority of the Algarve's PS deputies is health

Jamila Madeira highlighted "the best result since 2005" of the PS in legislative

Priority to health and «to rebuild the NHS in the Algarve». This will be the great flag of the five PS deputies elected by the circle of Faro, assured the Sul Informação Jamila Madeira, who topped the list of socialists in the Algarve.

“We designed a regional commitment in which we assumed that the first priority would be health and continue to rebuild the National Health Service in the Algarve. This is a flag that we will not drop by any means,” he said.

«We want the region to have more doctors, more nurses, more health professionals, the re-equipment of existing units and also the launch of everything that is needed to have the Central University Hospital of the Algarve, as we are aware that it is very important for the add all these pieces», added the Algarve deputy, in statements to our newspaper.

Jamila Madeira highlighted that the PS “has managed to have today the best result in the Legislatures since 2005 and this is an acknowledgment of the work we have done in the last four years and the change we have made in their quality of life. It's a motivation for the next four years».

"The challenge now is to implement the electoral commitment that we set out to do and bring all these proposals to fruition, responding to the concerns that were transmitted to us in all corners of the Algarve," he added.

In addition to health, another priority is mobility. “We are going to work to ensure an ever-increasing reduction in the tolls on the A22”, said Jamila Madeira.

At the same time, the socialists promise “to bet on a logic of sustainable mobility. That's what we did with social passes for 40 years. Now, we will have to work with the concessionaires, to guarantee the existence of routes that actually make sense for the citizens of the Algarve».

Basically, it is a matter of ensuring that the people of the Algarve “have a public transport response suited to their needs”.

“Also housing is a great challenge for the region today. And this is a problem that intersects with one of our objectives, which is to establish new staff in the region, be they doctors, teachers and other types of more qualified professionals», considered the socialist deputy.

“We are not just talking about housing for the most needy population. We are talking about houses for families with intermediate incomes, for which it is very difficult and very heavy to have a house, compared to other regions”, he believes.

Despite this being a market problem, Jamila Madeira believes that mechanisms must be found to overcome it. We already have a set of legislative matter produced, but we want there to be a set of concrete initiatives».

“From day one, we will work to ensure that these commitments are fulfilled as quickly as possible”, concluded Jamila Madeira.

Jorge Botelho, elected for the first time as a deputy to the Assembly of the Republic after more than a decade as president of the Chamber of Tavira, points out the same priorities and believes that the victory achieved by the PS «means that the proposal we had was the correct one for the Algarve».

Now, he admits, "a permanent struggle" will begin to ensure that the Algarve's priorities are met, something that is "dependent on the conditions the country has."

“Today was election day. In four years' time, we'll do math», says Jorge Botelho.
