A thermal camera drone helped the GNR locate and rescue a 90-year-old who had disappeared in Aljezur.
The man was found lying on the ground, in a dark field, on Wednesday at dawn, and the technology used, a drone with a thermal camera from the Emergency Protection and Relief Unit, was decisive.
The GNR military, alerted by employees of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Aljezur, made several flights with the drone over the village of Aljezur, and ended up discovering the missing elderly person, who was later taken to the hospital.
The elderly is a user of the Residential Structure for Elderly People in Aljezur and, «despite their age, they have no physical limitations». On the 28th, at around 15:00 pm, he went out for a walk, “ending up getting disoriented and unable to return to the same place he had left”.
