CDU outside Parliament is «loss for the Algarve»

The goal of re-electing a deputy was not achieved "by a few tenths"

«The Algarve, the workers and the population are the ones who are losing without the election of the CDU». This is the reaction of Tiago Raposo, the head of the list for the constituency of Faro who failed to be elected deputy in the Legislatures this Sunday, October 6th.

Ao Sul Informação, Tiago Raposo said that the goal of electing a deputy again was not achieved "by a few tenths."

"It was by a few votes, but we did not reach our goal and it was expected that we would get a deputy," he added.

Tiago Raposo was the head of the list, to the detriment of Paulo Sá, deputy, elected by the Algarve, from 2011 to 2019. Wasn't the change crucial in this negative result for the CDU?

In the opinion of Tiago Raposo, “for our part, nothing failed”. «We did a very intense campaign, also following what had already been the work of Paulo Sá. We toured all the counties. We were on the streets, in the workplaces, where the people were. We identified problems and pointed out ways,” he told our newspaper.

Even without a deputy, Tiago Raposo assured that the work "will continue to be done", even in a "more difficult situation".

“Wherever the population needs us, we will be there. They will have the CDU, as before, but, obviously, with less conditions», he considered.

In collective terms, despite having lost deputies at the national level, Tiago Raposo says that the CDU leaves these elections…«more strengthened».

“We have a deeper knowledge of the problems and the ways to solve them. Those who are harmed the most are the populations and workers of the Algarve who will no longer have a voice in the Assembly of the Republic», he reinforced.

As for a future government, the head of the list for the Algarve said that "there will hardly ever be an agreement, on paper, as it has existed" in the last four years.

«I think the words of Jerónimo de Sousa were revealing. The PS and the PCP, by themselves, in terms of mandates is enough for a majority, but we maintain what we have said in the last four years: all the measures that are good for the workers and for the people, there will be the votes of the CDU. Otherwise, count on our lead», he concluded.
