Young people “hunted” 3.900 kilos of butts on the beaches of Tavira

156 young volunteers participated

156 young people, between 6 and 16 years old, joined the eco-race “hunt hunting” which took place, between the 27th and 30th of August, on the beaches of the municipality of Tavira (Cabanas, Ilha de Tavira, Terra Estreita and Barril) . In total 3900 kilos of butts were collected.

Eco-proof, a playful-environmental initiative, aims to raise awareness of the issue of small waste abandoned by vacationers during the bathing season, as well as reward those who collaborate in the prevention of environmental problems.

This action is part of the commitments assumed with ABAE – Blue Flag Association of Europe in terms of environmental education.

In this sense, the Municipality of Tavira, in collaboration with the Municipal Company TaviraVerde and the different non-profit entities in the municipality, took this action forward.

This eco-race also had the support of concessionaires, maritime-tourist transport companies, river transport and tourist transport provided by Aldeamento Pedras d'El Rei.
