Three arrested for drug trafficking and bar prostitution business

The arrests were the culmination of an investigation that had been going on for six months

Three people, aged between 55 and 57, were arrested this Sunday, 18 August, for practices linked to pimping (encouraging prostitution), drug trafficking and tax evasion, in Quarteira and Vilamoura. Everything took place in a night entertainment establishment, registered as an inn and bar.

The arrests were the culmination of an investigation that had been going on for six months.

The military seized two firearms, 285 ammunition of various calibers, three pepper spray aerosols, 33 doses of hashish, 28 doses of cocaine, four computers, five mobile phones and a tablet.

In addition to this, 4996 euros in cash, 180 pounds (UK currency), 260 condoms and various material related to sexual practices were also seized.

Of the 38 people identified, including customers and employees of the establishment, three were identified for illegal stay in national territory.

The detainees will be present at the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of Loulé today, 19th of August.

This operation had the collaboration of the Public Order Intervention Group of the Intervention Unit, the Intervention Detachment of Faro, the Aliens and Borders Service and the Tax Authority.
