A White Night in the village and observation of a meteor shower in the castle. These are Paderne's suggestions for Saturday, the 10th, from the end of the afternoon.
At 19 pm, another edition of the White Night of Paderne begins. Here, residents and visitors are invited to dress in white and there will be food and beverage bars, street entertainment, a handicraft exhibition and lots of music.
“Aldeia Encantada – Noite Branca” is an initiative of the Parish Council of Paderne, with the support of the Albufeira City Council and local associations, clubs and businesses.
Also on Saturday, but at the Castle of Paderne, there will be an astronomical observation activity. From 20:30 onwards, anyone who wants to can take the opportunity to see the Perseid meteor shower, «a phenomenon that occurs every year in August, when the Earth passes in the wake of the Swift-Tuttle comet», according to Albufeira Town Council.
In this initiative, "dozens of shooting stars per hour can be observed through a telescope." And there will be no shortage of music, provided by Rui Mourinho, who will lead a classical guitar recital at Ermida do Castelo, from 21 pm.
Stargazing at Paderne Castle is organized by Albufeira Town Council – Municipal Archeology Museum, with the support of the Albufeira Astronomy Club.
