The municipal company Ambiolhão started today, Monday, a general disinfestation campaign against rats and cockroaches that will reach the entire county and will last until the 4th of September.
Ratization and disposal actions will mainly focus on the network of public collectors and urban waste disposal sites.
«In the case of interventions against rats, and given the toxicity of the baits, it is not possible to apply them on the ground. The baits will only be applied inside the sewage networks, to prevent accidents from occurring with children or pets», according to the Chamber of Olhão.
The autarchy stresses that it only carries out the disinfestation of public areas, “not being able to intervene in areas of private domain, such as lots under construction, vacant houses or private land”.
In this way, the owners of commercial spaces, houses and managers of condominium companies are invited to «coordinate the disinfestation of their properties for the same periods, in order to improve the effectiveness of treatments, both in private and public areas».
