FAGAR has a contingency plan for garbage collection during the strike

Municipal company that collects garbage in Faro calls for the collaboration of the population

The FAGAR municipal company FAGAR has put in place a contingency plan to alleviate the effects of the strike by drivers of hazardous materials, scheduled for Monday, and has the collaboration of the population of Faro to lessen the effects of the strike on urban waste collection, one of its missions.

If the stoppage is confirmed and starts on the 12th, and taking into account that it is not known when it will end, the company "has put in place a contingency plan, which aims to carry out a careful reorganization of the circuits and respective routes, with a view to minimizing fuel consumption, thus guaranteeing the service for as long as possible, also ensuring, for the longest period, the minimum conditions of public hygiene».

FAGAR will do its part and appeals to the “responsibility and civility of all citizens, so that they consciously reduce, if possible, the production of waste, but above all, ration as much as possible its deposit in containers, avoiding the its normal daily disposal, in order to avoid the accumulation of residues on the public road which, combined with the high temperatures foreseen at this time, can, in some points, compromise hygiene and public health».

Thus, the population should try to reduce the production of waste, pack garbage in tightly closed bags, avoid daily depositing in containers, separate recyclable materials and place them in recycling bins and look for a container that is not full, if they come across one already full.

“This is a problem that affects everyone and that everyone should be concerned about, so we appeal to everyone's contribution so that our council remains as clean as possible during the days of strike”, concludes FAGAR.
