The Odiana association has already completed the improvement works, which included reinforcement of signage, cleaning of stretches and specific redefinition of the route of the Grande Rota do Guadiana (GR15).
«The services contracted for this purpose included the acquisition and fixing, replacement of information panels, directional signs, posts for marking support, cleaning and clearing work on trails/paths and painting of signaling marks on natural supports, along the route expansion of the GR15, and the requalification of the Route Network», explains Odiana.
In addition to the maintenance work, four changes were made to the initial layout of the GR15: in sectors 1 and 4.
These changes are the result of consultation with entities working in the field, as well as regular users of this route. This redefinition was intended to provide safety, comfort and greater enjoyment of the GR15 layout in terms of landscape.
It also implied changes in a marshy area that now, despite the rainy season, will allow the passage more comfortably. Finally, an expansion of the initial route (next to Customs) was consigned, which now extends to the Sports Complex, a place frequented by thousands of athletes, thus allowing for greater visibility of the GR15.
It was a global investment of around 46 thousand euros.
The project VALINTUR – Valorizar the Interior of Baixo Guadiana, is an initiative of Odiana, with application approved under the Support Line for the Valorizar Interior, of the Valorizar Programme, promoted by Turismo de Portugal.
