The Left Bloc wants to know if the Ministry of Health will "activate the competent inspection bodies" to determine what really happened in the case of the newborn's death at the Hospital Fernando da Fonseca (Amadora/Sintra), after the transfer of the mother from the Hospital de Faro.

In a request sent to the tutelage by deputies to the Assembly of the Republic João Vasconcelos – elected by the Algarve – and Moisés Ferreira, the Government is asked whether it intends to open an inquiry into the case, why has it not done so already, and when will it have the conclusions of the inquiry, namely the one opened by the IGAS – General Inspection of Health Activities.

The Blocist deputies cautioned, in another application made to the Ministry of Health, that they will know the conclusions of the inquiry that will be opened as soon as the report is produced.

On day 2, a pregnant woman at risk was transferred from the Hospital of Faro to Amadora-Sintra due to the lack of incubators in the Algarve hospital. The premature baby ended up dying minutes after delivery, which occurred the next morning.

For João Vasconcelos and Moisés Ferreira, "it is necessary to activate the inspection mechanisms, namely the General Inspection of Health Activities, so that they can audit and investigate the correctness or not of the decisions and procedures taken", because "as far as we know, the pregnant woman in question was not immediately treated at the hospital in Faro for lack of incubators».

Meanwhile, the University Hospital Center of the Algarve has already ordered the opening of an investigation, despite Ana Paula Gonçalves, president of the administration council of the Algarve hospitals, affirming that, in a first analysis, the procedure followed by the professionals of the unit she manages was the correct one.
