Only 13,9% of homes in Portugal have an air conditioning system, according to a study published by idealista, Portugal's real estate marketplace. To obtain this data, the idealista analyzed more than 278.900 homes for sale and for rent advertised in its database on July 19th.
Faro is the city with the most air-conditioned houses advertised for sale and rent (31%), followed by Viseu (23,8%), Braga (21%), Lisbon (18,5%) and Setúbal (15,2 .XNUMX%), in that order.
In Porto, only 13,1% of properties advertised for sale and lease have A/C, less than the national average (13,9%).
In the opposite direction, there is Guarda, which is the Portuguese city with the fewest houses advertised for sale and lease equipped with A/C (2,8%). Bragança and Ponta Delgada (3,7% and 3,9%, respectively) complete the podium.
By regions, it is in the Algarve where there is a higher percentage of air-conditioned houses advertised for sale and rent (31%). This is followed by Lisbon (18,5%) and Alentejo (14%). At the bottom of the table are the Azores (3,9%).
In the Portuguese housing stock, the difference between air-conditioned houses for sale and for rent is significant, with the lease gaining an advantage. Of the houses available for rent, 17,1% have this facility, while the houses that are for sale only 13,8% have air conditioning.
By cities, 20,2% of houses for rent in Lisbon have air conditioning, 18,3% for purchase. The same happens in Évora (lease: 28,6%; sale: 8,5%), Braga (lease: 24,6%; sale: 20,8%) and Aveiro (lease: 20,9%; sale: 10,7 .XNUMX%).
On the other hand, 31,2% of homes that are sold in Faro have an air conditioning system, while for renting only 13,3% have this extra. In Coimbra the situation is identical, there are more houses for sale with air conditioning (14,8%) than for rent (4,2%).
In Beja, Bragança, Guarda and Portalegre, none of the houses that are available for rent have air conditioning.
