The new sports center of Conceição de Faro opened this Wednesday, July 17th, with a symbolic kick off in the most recent sports equipment in the county.
The work cost 286 thousand euros and comes to satisfy «the old and just aspirations of the population of Conceição», says the Chamber of Faro.
The ceremony was well attended and included, among others, the parish priest of Conceição Frei Paulo Ferreira, who blessed the infrastructure and Custódio Moreno, Regional Director of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth.
The enclosure is made of acrylic resin with markings for the game lines, intended for futsal, handball, volleyball and basketball – with the possibility of integrating others that may be considered within the scope of the municipal sports project.
At night, lighting is provided by LED floodlights that are placed on four posts 8 meters high, with power and direction compatible with the sporting events to be held.
The complex has a building that houses the changing rooms, divided into five distinct areas - two for teams and athletes involved in the game or training, another for refereeing teams, a public sanitary installation prepared for people with reduced mobility and There is also a specific area for storage and storage.
For the Municipality, «this inauguration is excellent news, as it is yet another solution that allows the practice of sports in conditions of comfort and safety».
«On the other hand, the new multi-sport is part of a strategy assumed in this mandate, to seek to secure and attract more young people to our municipality and, in particular, to the so-called “rural parishes” of Faro», says the municipality.
