Festa Junina brings Brazilians and Portuguese together again in Quarteira

With the support of the Consulate of Brazil in the Algarve, there are dances, meals and a lot of sharing between Brazilians and Portuguese

The Festa Junina of the Brazilian community residing in the Algarve returns this Saturday, June 22, from 18 pm, to Praça do Mar, in Quarteira.

Organized by the António Aleixo Foundation, the Citizens Council (ConCid) and the Consulate General of Brazil in Faro, the party includes typical food from that time in that brother country, and lots of music, in charge of the Trio de Zé Amora, which, at 20:30 pm, will set the rhythm of the square dance (high point), as well as Lucas de Moraes.

The Festas Juninas is an adaptation to the warmer climate of the festivities of Santos Populares, in Portugal. The instruments and dances of the square, for example, as well as the clothes used and the decorations have clear origins in the traditions brought by Portuguese immigrants to Brazil, even in colonial times.

This year, the Festa Junina de Quarteira will count on the presence of Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé, and ambassador Reinaldo Storani, consul general of Brazil in the Algarve.
