DiVaM takes “A Journey in Pindar” to Milreu and Concert at Dusk to Sagres

All DiVaM initiatives are free to enter.

The lecture “The Journey in Pindar”, this Wednesday, June 19, at the Roman Ruins of Milreu, and a Concert at Sunset, at the Sagres Fortress, on the 23rd, are the next initiatives of the cultural program DiVaM – Dynamization and Valorization of Monuments.

As for the lecture in Milreu, it will be at 18 pm and given by António Castro Caeiro, from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

The sea voyage is a metaphor for life in Pindar. But the journey does not only have this figurative meaning. The sea voyage is the discovery of the sea path, at the same time, while making the path itself. It is also the traveler's own discovery as a possible castaway or as the discoverer who lands on land and lives to tell what he explored on the journey.

This lecture is part of the 5th edition of the cycle Amateurs in situ and results from the collaboration between the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, the University of Algarve, the Portuguese Association of Classical Studies and the Association CÍVIS – Association for the Deepening of Citizenship.

The Auditorium of the Fortaleza de Sagres will host the concert by André Júlio Turquesa, on the 23rd, at 18:00. This concert is part of the cycle of “Concertos ao Entardecer” and is produced by Arquente Associação Cultural.

Multi-instrumentalist composer, André Júlio Turquesa has collaborated with several artists in areas such as cinema, theater and circus. “Camomila” is his latest EP, where he explores the potential of the simplicity and elasticity of guitar and voice.

These proposals are part of DiVaM – Dynamization and Valorization of Monuments – cultural program organized by the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, this year with the theme “The Journey”.

All DiVaM initiatives are free to enter.
