A helicopter is helping firefighters fight a fire in a wooded area near the village of Azilheira, in the parish of São Marcos da Serra (Silves).

The fire alert was received at 15:38 pm, and is being fought by 20 workers, supported by 3 vehicles and a helicopter.

Due to the heat that is felt this weekend, with values ​​above normal for the season, aggravated by the wind in the Algarve, the Minister of Internal Administration and the Secretary of State for Forests and Rural Development signed an order prohibiting burning and burning of exploitation leftovers until the 14th of May, in ten districts: Beja, Bragança, Castelo Branco, Évora, Faro, Guarda, Lisbon, Portalegre, Santarém and Setúbal.

The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority also issued a warning to the population about the danger of rural fires, as well as a technical-operational communiqué, which determines the passage to the Yellow Special Alert State of the Special Rural Fire Fighting Device in the districts of Beja, Évora and Faro.
