Left Block Questions Government on Relocation of RTP/Algarve

RTP Workers Commission told the blockers that this is the intention of the Board of Directors

The Left Block wants the Government to clarify whether it really intends to relocate the RTP Algarve delegation in Faro, from the current facilities to others located on the Penha Campus of the University of Algarve.

The blockists want the reasons behind this decision to be explained, if confirmed, and argue that the measure will "reduce technical skills and working conditions for RTP-Algarve employees."

The alleged intention of the Board of Directors of RTP to move the company's premises in the Algarve to UAlg were transmitted by the Public Radio and Television Workers Committee to a delegation from BE/Algarve, which included João Vasconcelos, elected Blocist deputy by region.

However, a visit by João Vasconcelos and other regional party leaders to the premises of the RTP Delegation in Faro, «with meetings with its workers and with the President of the Board of Directors of RTP».

"In the event of this change, the future of the RTP-Algarve delegation will be compromised due to the degradation of working conditions and public service of RTP in the region, with the consequent and progressive extinction of the delegation, something that the Left Block/Algarve rejects outright», defends the Left Block.

On the other hand, the Blocistas questioned the motivation for the relocation of the RTP-Algarve delegation, when a short time ago «the merger of Radio and Television in the same building in the same building, obtaining in this way a gain in synergies» was made.

In this way, the BE wants the Government to clarify what will be the destination of the «immense space» held by RTP along Avenida Calouste Gulbenkian, if the relocation takes place and questions whether «they will be real estate motivations with a huge financial income, to the detriment of a proximity television and once again, with the consequent loss of importance of the Algarve».
