Young man caught stealing by tossing in Vilamoura

Suspect already has a criminal record for drug trafficking

A 21-year-old young man was arrested, in the act, when he stole by “stretching” a woman, 68, this Sunday, March 31, on Avenida Tivoli, in Vilamoura.

During a patrol action in what is one of the main arteries of Vilamoura, the GNR military witnessed the suspect "carrying out a robbery by pulling, taking his wallet to a 68-year-old woman."

The man was immediately chased and the guards ended up "intercepting him and detaining him shortly afterwards", says the GNR.

The detainee had the victim's belongings in his possession: a mobile phone, 30 euros, 53 pounds and various documents and cards.

"During the personal security search, a melee weapon was also detected in the detainee's possession, which was also seized," says the GNR.

The suspect, with a criminal record for the crime of drug trafficking, was detained at the GNR premises and will be present this Tuesday, April 2, at the Judicial Court of Loulé.
