The Judiciary Police (PJ) detained in Portimão two men suspected of having used a firearm to rob a couple of British tourists, in Albufeira, in January.
The pair of assailants is suspected of the crimes of robbery with firearms, fraud and possession of prohibited weapons.
The arrests are the culmination of an investigation into a robbery with firearms and fraud, which allowed the issuance of warrants for the arrest of the two men, aged 21 and 25, and for the search of their homes, located in the Portimão area.
The police operation was carried out with the involvement and collaboration of the PSP and, in addition to the arrest of the suspects, it resulted in "the seizure of the instruments of the crime and the vehicle involved in the facts", revealed the PJ.
The defendants will be present at the first Judicial interrogation.
