The price of passes on public transport in the Algarve will be halved. The measure was approved this Friday, March 8th, by AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community, and will be applied as of late May.
The Public Transport Tariff Reduction Support Plan was unanimously approved at the meeting of the Intermunicipal Council.
This 50% reduction, valid for buses and trains, is achieved through funds from the Environmental Fund and local authorities.
This year AMAL receives an amount of about 1 million euros from the Environmental Fund, which represents about 97,5% of the global amount, the remaining 2,5% coming from municipalities.
This is yet another AMAL measure to increase the demand for public transport in the Algarve region, in a commitment to environmentally friendly solutions.
The Intermunicipal Community «hopes now that accompanying this measure, the lack of public transport in the Algarve region will also be resolved».
