The women's soccer team beat Sweden 2-1, in a game counting for the 1st round of group D of the Algarve Cup, played this Friday, March 1st, at the Albufeira Municipal Stadium.

This was a historic victory against a team with scrolls in women's football and currently ranks 9th in the FIFA rankings.

Sweden even scored first, through Nathalie Björn, in the 68th minute, but the advantage was short-lived. After three minutes, Diana Silva re-established equality.

The best was, however, saved for the final moments. The Algarvian Cláudia Neto signed the Portuguese winning goal, already in added time (93′).

With this victory, Portugal leads group D, with 3 points, and still two games to play. The next match is on Monday, March 4, against Switzerland, in Vila Real de Santo António.
