Faro there will be a Solidarity Network for the medicine, after having been unanimously approved in a Chamber meeting, a collaboration protocol for the implementation of the “Abem Program” in the county.

This program is an initiative of IPSS Dignitude, the entity responsible for the development, operation and management of the aforementioned program, aimed at all citizens in Portugal who are in a situation of economic need that makes it impossible for them to purchase reimbursed medicines prescribed to them by prescription.

Potential beneficiaries of this program include all individuals in a situation of economic need in general or resulting from situations of sudden unemployment or confrontation with a disabling illness, among other cases.

With the signature of this protocol, the council of Faro will be covered by the program and the City Council will continue to carry out its work as a reference entity that identifies and carries out the socio-economic assessment of the households that will be indicated, when eligible, to Associação Dignitude, so that, in accordance with the provisions of the protocol, the respective beneficiary cards are issued.

The City Council also undertakes to make efforts to publicize, dynamize and involve civil society and the business fabric of Faro in pursuit of the program's objectives, taking on, in cooperation with IPSS Dignitude, the raising of funds for the execution of this program in the county.

For the implementation of this protocol, the City Council of Faro will assume the value of 100 euros in co-payment for each identified beneficiary, with the remaining amount being supported by the “Programa Abem: Solidária do Medicina Network”.
