Climate change on the agenda of yet another Youth Parliament in the Algarve

CCDR will bring European themes to the session that takes place tomorrow

Students from schools in the Algarve will participate in the session of the Youth Parliament – Secondary, tomorrow, the 19th, at 9:00 am, in the regional delegation of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ).

The winning school will represent the Algarve nationally and could win participation in the European session in Strasbourg.

Tomorrow's session will feature the Europe Direct Algarve information centre, with partners from the MOVE network, which will have a service desk and will present two poster exhibitions on the “#Destavezeuvoto” and “#EUandMe. Europe is close to you!”.

Also present at the session will be Francisco Serra, president of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve).

The Youth Parliament – Secondary has as its main objective to encourage the interest of young people in civic and political participation. This year's edition is themed “Climate Change – Reversing Global Warming” and is attended by fourteen secondary schools in the Algarve.

This is, according to CCDR Algarve, «a theme that is in line with the concerns of the last session of the Algarve Regional Council and the priorities of the region for the next community support framework».

The session will also serve to announce the winner of the “Special Euroscola”, which had the theme “European Elections 2019: taking responsibility and choosing the future”, a national competition aimed at schools participating in the Youth Parliament, promoted by the IPDJ.
