Ricardo Teodósio and navigator José Teixeira, after discussing the national title in their first full season with an R5 vehicle, officially presented their project for the 2019 season of the Portugal Rally Championship. The Algarve driver believes he will be even more competitive at the wheel of the Skoda Fabia R5.
The 2018 season confirmed Ricardo Teodósio as one of the fastest and most competitive drivers in national rallies. The pilot navigated by José Teixeira won the Castelo Branco Rally and won three more podiums in the CPR, in the rallies in the Azores, Vidreiro – Centro de Portugal and Madeira Wine, reaching the last race of the season, in the Algarve, in a position to be crowned national champion.
But the outcome was conditioned by an engine problem, at a time when Ricardo Teodósio was leading the rally with more than 30 seconds ahead, but that did not take away the motivation and ambition of the popular Skoda Fabia R5 driver, who finished on the final podium. of the CPR in 2018.
For 2019, Ricardo Teodósio and his team have prepared an even more ambitious project, reinforced by the entry of some important partners.
The team was officially introduced this Saturday, at an event held at the restaurant «O Teodósio», in Guia (Albufeira), aiming for the absolute title of the Portuguese Rally Championship, considered one of the most competitive in Europe.
“What we did in 2018, with conditions not always comparable to those of direct competition, leads us to believe that we have the capacity to be champions”, said Ricardo Teodósio, with the usual frontality.
“Last year, we won in Castelo Branco and we were almost always consistent in the fight for the first places, to the point that we reached the Rally Casinos do Algarve fighting for the title. Now we have another experience and rhythm with Skoda, which has suffered a slight upgrade engine, and in addition we continue to rely on the expertise of ARC Sport and the support of all our sponsors, family, friends and supporters. I can't hide that we're going to win”, said the Algarve driver.
José Teixeira returns to sit on the baket on the direct side of the Skoda Fabia R5 and will continue to be the great support of Ricardo Teodósio in the joint journey towards the top of the CPR.
“We set up an even more professional project for this season, in all aspects, also to justify the commitment of our partners and sponsors. We leave for this new season with reinforced ambitions, after having surpassed our goals in 2018, since at the beginning of the year we were aiming for the top 5. The goal is to be consistent and think rally by rally, starting already in Fafe”, stated José Teixeira .
The 2019 season of the Portugal Rally Championship starts on the 22nd and 23rd of February, on the emblematic dirt stretches of the Serras de Fafe Rally.
