Innovative social projects are once again able to apply for support

Session will also serve to present the different projects already supported by the Government program to support social innovation

The second competition to support innovative social projects in the Algarve region will be launched in a session that will take place on February 26, at 14 pm, at the Loulé Music Conservatory.

In the initiative, organized in partnership by the Mission Structure of the Portugal Social Innovation program and the Algarve's Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR), there will also be a presentation of the second call of the “Partnerships for Impact” program, which will make available 2,5, XNUMX million euros for new projects that respond, in an innovative way, to the social problems and challenges of the Algarve.

On the other hand, projects that have already received support from this program will be presented. launched in 2018 by the Government.

A mobile cafe that moves to the interior of the Algarve mountains to combat the isolation and loneliness of the senior population and potential dementias resulting therefrom, an application that promotes the civic participation of students from Lagoa or the empowerment of young NEET through artistic and arts practices circus are some of the interventions selected under the first Partnerships for Impact contest in this region.

Closed in October 2018, the first tender allocated 1,4 million euros of public investment to nine projects to be developed in various parts of the Algarve.

The session will also feature speeches by the Mayor of Loulé, Vítor Aleixo, the President of CCDR Algarve, Francisco Serra, and the President of Portugal Inovação Social, Filipe Almeida, who will close the session.

“Partnerships for Impact” is a financing instrument managed by Portugal Inovação Social that guarantees the financing of up to 70% of the total cost of a project, with one or more social investors – public or private – having to support the remaining 30%.

So far, Portugal Inovação Social has supported 118 projects from the north to the south of the country, «corresponding to a total of 26,5 million euros in public investment, which are testing, developing or expanding innovative solutions, complementary to the traditional ones, to solve or mitigate social problems in the areas of education, employment, health, justice, social inclusion or citizenship”, according to Portugal Inovação Social.
