It was not yet that Portimonense won at home, in the second round, but the XNUMX-XNUMX draw this afternoon, against Desportivo das Aves, served to break the negative series that had already gone into four defeats.

Portimonense started the game, with more ball and, at 13 minutes, the first goal threat appeared. Wellington isolated himself in the back of the defence, managed to get past the Avense goalkeeper, but the cross found no one.

At 15′, Lucas do Portimonense created another opportunity. Lucas Fernandes hit a free-kick from the left, for the other Lucas, Possignolo, the latter returned it to the midfielder's shot, which Bernardeu defended with difficulty. The ball was still left for Rúben Fernandes, who headed the post, but the move was already invalidated by the defender's offside.

Desportivo das Aves reacted and scared for the first time, at 17 minutes, when, after a cross from the right, Luquinhas shot wide of Ricardo Ferreira's goal.

However, Aves didn't need much more "rehearsals" to score and the goal came in a play, apparently harmless, in the 21st minute. Rodrigo hit a free-kick from far away, no one touched the ball, but it ended up betraying Ricardo Ferreira and went into goal.

Portimonense had much more possession, but far from goal. In a scheme of three centrals, the three men furthest back from the Algarve exchanged the ball between them, but Aves closed well and did not make room for the ball to get close to their area.

Aves, on the other hand, bet on Mama Baldé's speed to create danger and it was in a play led by him that Aves was very close to 2-0. Baldé started from the right, passed Rúben Fernandes and crossed to Luquinhas, who only didn't celebrate because Ricardo Ferreira made a huge save.

António Folha moved at half-time, took out Wellington and Rúben Fernandes, started playing with four defenders, and brought in Tabata and Paulinho.

The changes were good for Portimonense, who scored shortly after, in the 48th minute. After a cross by Dener, Jadson shared the ball with the Aves goalkeeper, and this was left to Jackson, who, at first, made the tie.

At 56′, Tabata was close to the comeback. At the entrance of the area, the Brazilian shot hard and Bernardeau defended with difficulties.

When Portimonense was looking for the comeback goal, they got a “scare”. At 71′, Rodrigo received the ball on the right, made a late pass to Luquinhas and the latter shot in an arc for Aves' goal.

However, after consulting the VAR, referee Jorge Sousa canceled the move because Derley, who was in an irregular position, may have disturbed Ricardo Ferreira's view of the move.

Until the end, although Portimonense continued to have more ball, they could not break through the defensive wall of Aves.

With this tie, the Alvinegros have 28 points, and are, as a condition, in 9th place in the Primeira Liga. In the next journey, the Algarve will visit Sporting, in Alvalade.
