XNUMXth century Flemish painting is now on display at the Museum of Faro in partnership with Novo Banco

The signing of the protocol marks the coming to the Algarve of this work from the Novo Banco artistic collection

New piece will go to this room of the old painting of the Municipal Museum

The "Tower of Babel", a "valuable XNUMXth century Flemish painting" will be permanently exhibited at the Municipal Museum of Faro, as of February 19, thanks to a partnership protocol between Novo Banco and the Chamber of the Algarve capital.

The signing ceremony of this protocol will take place on the 19th, at 18 pm, at the museum, and marks the arrival in the Algarve of this work from the Novo Banco artistic collection.

The ceremony will be attended by the president of the Chamber Rogério Bacalhau, the CEO of Novo Banco, António Ramalho and the director of the Municipal Museum, Marco Lopes.

The municipality explains, in a press release, that "this opportunity arises as a result of a project by Novo Banco and the Portuguese State that provides for the distribution of the Bank's artistic collection to national museums and other museum spaces, ensuring access to the public, in permanent exhibition circuits, but also preservation and monitoring by accredited teams».

Last year, of the 98 works for distribution, 22 were sent to national and municipal museums from Setúbal to Guimarães and one to Madeira.

It will now be up to the Municipal Museum of Faro receive the first work in the Algarve region, namely the aforementioned painting “Torre de Babel”, dating from the mid-XNUMXth century and from the Flemish school.

The valuable XNUMXth-century work will be part of the Municipal Museum's old painting room, being grouped with the other canvases on religious themes, enriching this collection that makes known different schools and artistic styles.
