Downhill's best “fly” again in São Brás de Alportel

The Portuguese Downhill Cup will feature the best Portuguese athletes, but also a "strong foreign armada", coming from several countries

Cyclists from different countries will join the best Portuguese athletes in the sport in the Portugal Downhill Cup in MTB, which starts on Sunday in São Brás de Alportel.

The race takes place on the Arimbo track, whose jumps provide authentic flights to the participants. The qualifying heat is scheduled for 11:00 am and the final is scheduled for 14:30 pm.

At a time when the attention of the cycling world is focused on the region, due to the Volta ao Algarve, where some of the biggest names in the sport at international level participate, mountain biking will also be highlighted.

In addition to «the best Portuguese specialists», São Brás will receive «from a strong foreign armada, with cyclists from several countries, from Spain to France, from the United Kingdom to Germany», according to the Portuguese Cycling Federation.

Awaiting you is a class 2 UCI course, on a renovated track of the Arimbo track, «with 1810 meters in length, which will allow the fastest riders to complete the descent in about 3 minutes».

Although the race itself only takes place on Sunday, the action starts on Saturday, with official training.
