Algarvian students who met refugees in Greece tell the story in a book

Gonçalo Jacob, Cátia Orvalho, Luísa Lino and Rafael Pina have already won the communication award “For Cultural Diversity”

The book “War Faces”, written by four former students of the Pinheiro e Rosa Secondary School, from Faro, will be released on February 10th, at 16 pm, at the Forum Algarve's FNAC.

The group of students made up of Gonçalo Jacob, Cátia Orvalho, Luísa Lino and Rafael Pina, who recently completed secondary education, recalls that «it all started with an Erasmus+ school project, which took us to Greece in 2017, where we had contact with Syrian refugees. The journey marked us in such a way that we decided to start writing».

According to the authors, «little by little, our texts grew, giving rise to a school edition and we began to participate in various events, such as the Querença International Literary Festival, until, still in 2017, we won the communication award “For Cultural Diversity” in the Youth category, promoted by the High Commission for Migration”.

The young people continued to write and, “after some time, we decided to publish all the texts we had written, this time through a publisher. This is how this adventure ends with the launch of the book», they conclude.
