Chamber gives 66 thousand euros to maintain the extension of the Red Cross of Martim Longo

Among the services provided is the permanent ambulance service

The Municipality of Alcoutim is going to provide €66 thousand support to the Portuguese Red Cross, to ensure the maintenance in operation of the Martim Longo extension of this institution and the continuity of the services provided by it.

The support will be granted within the scope of a collaboration protocol with the Humanitarian Center of Tavira of the Portuguese Red Cross, where the extension of Martim Longo was integrated.

The agreement calls for the Red Cross to undertake “to complement the services of the Mobile Health Unit (UMS), to carry out the permanent ambulance service with specialized personnel and to provide clinical psychology service, twice a month, to the citizens indicated and forwarded by the municipal office of Social Action, Health and Education».

“UMS is especially dedicated to prevention and surveillance among the elderly population and those with more difficulties in accessing health services. Equipped with specialized personnel, namely a doctor, nurse, driver and first aider, the health unit provides medical and nursing care in all the towns in the county», according to the Municipality of Alcoutim.
