«Fantastic» videomapping marks the start of the European City of Sport with a thousand events

Throughout the year, there will be an average of three sporting initiatives per day

It was with the largest multimedia and videomapping show ever held indoors in Portugal and with special guests, in front of four thousand people, that Portimão – European City of Sport 2019 started this Friday night.

Throughout the year, revealed to journalists Isilda Gomes, mayor of Portimão, there will be more than a thousand sporting events in the municipality. An investment of more than two million euros is also foreseen in the sports park.

These will be sporting events that will not generate revenue, but, pointed out Isilda Gomes, the economic return for Portimão “will be enormous, because there are more than 40 thousand overnight stays, taxes and all the economic dynamics created in the municipality”.

Olympic athletics champions Rosa Mota and Jorge Pina, CED 2019 ambassadors, as well as musician, singer and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Pereira Cristo, as well as Marisa Liz and Amor Electro were some of the guests who took to the stage. By the way, one of the highlights of the night was the interpretation of the CED 2019 Anthem by Marisa Liz.

But, among the public, there were many other special guests, such as motorcyclists Miguel Oliveira and Miguel Praia, Delmino Pereira, president of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, the Formula 1 motonautic pilot, Duarte Benavente, or even the secretaries of State for Sport , João Paulo Rebelo, Forests and Rural Development, Miguel Freitas, and Fisheries, José Apolinário,

The duo of presenters Cláudia Semedo and Pedro Miguel Ribeiro led the show, which featured a 360-degree videomapping projection, maintaining a constant interaction between artistic performances, musical moments, protocol acts and special guests.

In the end, the word “fantastic” was the one that was heard the most to describe the show, among the approximately 4000 people who filled the Arena de Portimão pavilion to attend the opening ceremony.
