Users concentrate «in defense of the Algarve Line»

Users of the Algarve Line «are faced daily with a service that is dangerously conditioned by constant deletions»

The Algarve Line Users Commission promotes next Thursday, January 10, at 17:30, a protest concentration at CP's Olhão Station.

This is an initiative “in defense of the Algarve Line, a fundamental infrastructure for the transversal development of the region”, but which “is facing one of the worst moments in its history”.

“In the last year, timetables have been eliminated and hundreds of trains eliminated. Users of the Algarve Line are faced daily with a service that is dangerously conditioned by constant suspensions, regular delays, the poor condition of trains, the closure and abandonment of stations" or even "the replacement of trains by buses that make only half of the stops », says the Commission of Users.

"If, with the entry of each new year, strength and expectations are strengthened, let us make 2019 the year of the turning point in rail transport", wishes the Commission of Users.

The Government has already announced that, on Monday, January 7, it will launch an international public tender for acquisition of new rolling stock, in a total of 22 railcars.
