União de Freguesias de Moncarapacho and Fuzeta complains of "chaotic situation" at traffic lights on EN125

Municipality complains about the lack of maintenance of traffic lights, which jeopardizes the safety of users

The Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuzeta is concerned about the state of degradation of traffic lights on the EN125, on the edge of the parish, and sent, in November, a report with the anomalies found to Infraestruturas de Portugal. However, the situation, which the municipality considers “chaotic”, has not been resolved and “there are places where it has even worsened”.

There are cases of uncoordinated traffic lights, green lights that don't come on, or speed control lights that don't work.

According to the municipality, "the complaints that this Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuzeta has filed with IP have been recurring", but
“to all these (and any other) complaints, this entity – which is responsible for the maintenance of the EN 125 – is limited to responding with quality inquiries about its services”.

In addition, according to União de Freguesias, IP says that Rotas do Algarve Litoral "has refused to assume its responsibilities on the roads under its jurisdiction, claiming to be in the negotiation process of a Sub-concession Contract".

For the municipality, "in this game of pushing, those who are harmed are the users of the EN125, who have their road safety at stake".

Since it has no 'power of intervention, the Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuzeta is limited to monitoring and reporting to IP all abnormal situations it detects, or for which it is alerted, hoping in vain that they are resolved'.

«The degradation in the light signs along the lane in the section that crosses our parish is quite visible, with practically all traffic lights showing anomalies», concludes the União de Freguesias.
