Paraglider, victim of an accident rescued on Cordoama beach

It is a 52-year-old German, who was transported to the hospital in Portimão

A German paraglider, who was the victim of an accident on Cordoama beach, municipality of Vila do Bispo, was rescued late this Sunday afternoon.

The 52-year-old man was paragliding when he crashed "very violently on the ground". The impact, according to the National Maritime Authority, "resulted in injuries at the level of the spine, which affected the lower limbs."

The message that there had been an accident in Cordoama was received by the local Command of the Maritime Police of Lagos, at 17:02 pm yesterday, Sunday, via the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center.

​The Lagos Maritime Police picket immediately moved to the location. The man was assisted by the Vila do Bispo Firefighters, one by an INEM immediate life support ambulance.

“At 18:10 pm, the wounded man was stabilized and sent to the Hospital de Portimão, with severe pain in the lumbar and cervical spine,” added the AMN.
