Algarve hotels with more occupancy and more sales in December

In the year, the Algarve hotel units had less occupancy and more income

The average occupancy rate/room of hotel units in the Algarve rose in December by 1,1 percentage points, to 34%.

The Association of Hotels and Touristic Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA) announced the performance of the units associated with it, in the last month of 2018, which highlights, in addition to the increase in occupancy, an increase of 11,8% in sales volume .

The rise in occupancy in December was helped by the increase in tourists from Great Britain (+9,3%), Germany (+10,2%) and France (+18,5%). In the opposite direction, there was the Dutch market, which fell 18,8%, which "attenuated the verified increase", according to AHETA.

The rise seen last month, compared to December 2017, did not prevent the Algarve's hotels and tourist developments from closing 2018 with a decrease in the occupancy rate of rooms, albeit with a growth of 3,7% in income.
