Chouriças are once again the reason for a party in Querença

One of the highlights was once again the auction of sausages

The village of Querença, in the interior of the municipality of Loulé, was once again the stage for another Festa das Chouriças, in honor of S. Luís.

Tasting roasted chorizo, mass, procession with the image of S. Luís, chorizo auction, small market with exhibition and sale of handicraft and local products, as well as music with the Grupo de Cantares Alentejanos de Mértola, make up the program, which attracted thousands of people to the village, on a sunny Sunday.

Closing the festivities, from 19 pm, there is a ball in the Casa do Povo de Querença Ballroom, with the accordionist Paulo das Vacas.

The roots of this event go back to a time when, in the interior of the Algarve, families had the habit of raising their pig for sustenance throughout the year. It was also a tradition to ask São Luís, the patron of animals, to keep the pig in good condition, in order to guarantee food for the household.

The Festival in Honor of S. Luís is organized by the Parish Festival Commission, with the support of the Union of Parishes of Querença, Tôr and Benafim, the Municipality of Loulé and the Casa do Povo of Querença.
