Aljezur Chamber approves motion against CTT station closing

CTT station in Aljezur has a «great importance for the local population»

The Council of Aljezur approved a motion, presented by Rogério Furtado, councilor elected by the CDU, on 22 January, against the closure of the CTT station in that Algarve village.

At the meeting, the repudiation against the «closure of the only CTT station in the municipality of Aljezur» was approved, demanding «its maintenance and the improvement of its services», as the motion reads.

"Since privatization, the company's management strategy has pursued a path of disregarding the obligations to which it is subject, with regard to the quality of the service provided, and of taking advantage of the CTT network to set up a bank at the national level", he says. the motion.

“The Post is not a business. They are an irreplaceable instrument for social, economic and territorial cohesion. The postal service must be at the service of the economy and development, with management aimed at achieving economic and financial balance and investing in improving the quality of life,” he adds.

The CTT station in Aljezur is of "great importance for the local population" and its closure "will cause losses", he concludes.

The Associação Terras do Infante, which brings together Lagos, Vila do Bispo and Aljezur, and the Câmara de Lagoa have already announced that they will proceed with an injunction against the closure of post offices in Aljezur, Praia da Luz (Lagos), Sagres and Carvoeiro (Lagoa).
