An Adapted and Inclusive Acrobatic Gymnastics Tournament will take place next Saturday, the 19th, between 12 pm and 14 pm, at the Pavilhão Desportivo de Albufeira.
46 gymnasts with different limitations will participate in this tournament (intellectual disability, visual impairment and motor impairment).
The tournament will take place in order to demonstrate “that gymnastics is a sport that can embrace everyone and in a truly inclusive model, in which gymnasts without disabilities cooperate with gymnasts with disabilities, in beautiful inclusive art choreographies in motion”.
Adaptation of the Acrobatic Gymnastics modality for people with limitations or disabilities has been taking place since 2014 in the Algarve, through a partnership between the Algarve Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Diminished Children and the Algarve Gymnastics Association.
In 2017 the Sul Informação made a report about this modality, in the Grupo Desportivo e Cultural do Enxerim.
