70 families in the municipality of Vila do Bispo receive Christmas hampers

70 needy families in the municipality of Vila do Bispo will receive Christmas hampers during the next week, which will be delivered by the City Council.

Cod, olive oil, flour, milk, canned food, rice, pasta, beans and biscuits are some of the essential foods that make up the baskets.

This year, "some families with children will also receive toys, a gift from Intermarché de Sagres," said the Vila do Bispo Council.

The beneficiaries of the Christmas baskets «were identified by the social action services of the municipality in conjunction with the local Social Security service (NLI), Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Vila do Bispo and the Cultural and Social Center of Figueira».

According to the Vila do Bispo Council, this initiative, which “has the objective of supporting the most disadvantaged, will provide the neediest families with a more dignified Christmas dinner”.

For the municipality, «this gesture of solidarity is of particular importance in this period and is part of the strategy that the municipality has been applying in the area of ​​social action».

The Municipal Council of Vila do Bispo, in a note sent to the editorial offices, “thanks all the entities and their collaborators who with their support contributed to making this cause possible, namely the Intermarché de Sagres, Supersul, Lda. and Raposeira, Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel; Memmo Baleeira- Hotel Sagres; Pestana – Pousada Sagres – Charming Hotel Portugal and Santo António Golf».
