Public transport was discussed at the AMAL meeting in Olhão

ALGAR's situation was also discussed by the mayors

The concession of road passenger transport (buses), as a public service, and the tariff update of this service, for 2019, were some of the topics discussed at the meeting of the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve (AMAL), which brought together the 16 presidents of the Algarve, this Friday, at the Main Hall of the Town Hall of Olhão.

The creation of an integrated road public transport network in the region is one of AMAL's objectives, which will have to award the tender for the management of this service by the end of next year.

In addition to transport issues, topics such as the AMAL representative at the Regional Agency for Energy and Environment of the Algarve, the decentralization of competences, or the status of ALGAR were discussed.

In addition to these issues, «the issue of creating a single management entity for the water supply system in the region is still in the process of maturing ideas on the part of the Algarve's mayors», adds the Chamber of Olhão.

According to the municipality, the “issue is being discussed between the mayors of the Algarve, who intend to negotiate this process with the Government, so that the Algarve is not harmed in the future.
