The company Águas de Monchique planted 80 trees, mostly oaks, in the area of the former primary school of Caldas de Monchique, «one of the most affected places» by the fire that raged for a week in this municipality and in neighboring municipalities in August.
The initiative, as part of the company's Christmas event, had the participation of its 39 employees, who "went through the spa town and then headed towards Picota, one of the places most affected by the terrible fire in August", going to , then to the place where the trees were planted.
«It was a very remarkable action for all employees, since the terrain in question has special relevance for everyone who works there. It is also our commitment that the new trees will be treated over the next three years, with future initiatives being scheduled for this purpose», according to Vítor Hugo Gonçalves, executive president of Sociedade Água de Monchique.
