French trumpeter Laurent Rossi is the special guest of the Orquestra Clássica do Sul (OCS) in the concert “Mozart and his predecessors”, which will take place on November 30, at 21 pm, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro.

In this first concert of the “Amadeus” Cycle, OCS, directed by conductor Rui Pinheiro, and Laurent Rossi, horn player of the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, will interpret works not only by the composer who inspired the cycle, but also by his father, Leopold Mozart, and by JC Bach.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, considered one of the greatest composers ever, «has reached a sublime state of perfection and elegance, not only for being the owner of a brilliant mind, but also for the time he appeared – in a period of consolidation of Classicism».

«The figure of his father, violinist and composer Leopold Mozart was notable for the education of the young Amadeus, but also the influence of composers such as Johann Christian Bach (last son of Johann Sebastian), for whom Mozart had a great admiration and with whom established strong bonds of friendship», framed Rui Pinheiro, Principal Conductor of the Orquestra Clássica do Sul.

Thus, in this first concert, works by Wolfgang A. Mozart will be presented, as well as his great musical references.

The orchestra will be accompanied by Laurent Rossi, an “extraordinary French musician”, who will give the audience “the rare opportunity to hear three different instruments – alpine horn, natural horn and modern horn”.

The horn player of the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra will play the alpine horn, in the interpretation of “Sinfonia Pastorella”, by Leopold Mozart, the modern horn, in “Concerto para Trompa no. 4”, and the natural horn, in “Concerto para Horn no. .º 1”, both written by Wolfgang A. Mozart.

The program will also feature works by Johann C. Bach and Carl F. Abel, the “Symphony in D major” and “Symphony in E flat major”, respectively. The concert ends with “Symphony no. 35, Haffner”, by WA Mozart.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased at the Teatro das Figuras box office in Faro, online and at participating points of sale. Reservations can also be made through the telephone 289 888 110 and the email [email protected].
