Lagoa marks the International Day of Educating Cities with “Complicities”

«Lagoa has had in education one of its main focuses of interest»

“Weaving a network of complicity” is the title of the show with which Lagoa will mark, on November 30th, from 21 pm, at the Arade Congress Center (Parchal), the International Day of Educating Cities.

On the same day, the auditorium of the Convento de São José, in Lagoa, receives the colloquium “Learning to be in order to learn better” with a range of guests who promise to launch reflection on cognitive and emotional skills in the education of children and young people.

The day will also be marked with the raising of the Educating City flag on various facilities in the municipality.

The Municipality declared 2018 as the year of the Educating City. In all aspects of its programming, «Lagoa has had in education one of its main focuses of interest, in culture, sport, pedagogy, citizenship, gender equality. The life of the council has, therefore, been increasingly inspired by the principles of the Charter of Educating Cities», says the Câmara de Lagoa.

The “Lagoa, Cidade Educadora 2018” program, which has been running since September, and will be celebrated until December, brings challenges to the population through a set of activities such as book presentation, readings, colloquiums, shows, sports, heritage enhancement location, training of human resources and gastronomy.

Lagoa will also host, between 15 and 18 May next year, the National Congress of Educating Cities. The event will gather at the Centro de Congressos do Arade close to 70 Portuguese cities that have declared Education as their priority for local governance.
