The story of a century of Aljezur's life is told in a photography book

Publication brings together images of family and amateur and professional photographers over a century

The photography book “Aljezur 1869~1969 | Memories” will be released tomorrow, Saturday, November 3, at 16 pm, at Espaço+, in that village on the Costa Vicentina.

The publication follows the editorial plan established by the Municipality and is part of the research project «Aljezur: “between a vision “of place and memory” – safeguarding the material and immaterial heritage of a (un)protected council», of which Professor Maria João de Mendonça and Costa Pereira Neto, from the Center for Research in Architecture, Urbanism and Design of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon – CIAUD, is the responsible researcher.

For this edition, a partnership was established that also includes the company from Aljezurense 1000eyes - Image and Communication, by photographer João Mariano, and the Municipality of Aljezur, following an institutional protocol with the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon in September 2014.

This edition has «a mostly imagery component», with photographs that extend from the end of the 1869th century (60) to the 1969s of the XNUMXth century (XNUMX), «materializing a remarkable album of memories, a historical portrait of the municipality of Aljezur. The thematic variety, which includes the county's landscapes, events, sports, culture… reinforces this sense of “connection to the earth”».
