The Left Block (BE) requires the Hospital and University Center of the Algarve (CHUA) to unfreeze the careers of nurses.

Moisés Ferreira and João Vasconcelos, BE deputies, questioned the Government about the measures it will adopt “so that CHUA complies with the State Budget and applies the rules for the unfreezing of the nurses' careers”.

In the written question addressed to the Government, the parliamentarians clarify that the 2018 State Budget "establishes the unfreezing of careers and the respective remuneration valuations, and this rule is also applicable to nurses in Individual Employment Contracts, so there is no reason for CHUA to exclude the CIT professionals of career thawing'.

The deputies also claim that CHUA is not "correctly counting the points for the effect of the nurses' career progression, assuming that the adjustment has already been made when changing the minimum salary of nurses, counting as progression, thus creating unfair situations with professionals who have more than 20 years of public service».

"It is not true that the salary adjustment resulting from the change in the salary table applicable to nurses is a progression, so much so that many of these nurses remained at the base of their career", say the parliamentarians who believe that the "Government should intervene in order to restore justice to everyone in the process, and to enforce what is foreseen in the 2018 State Budget”.

Moisés Ferreira and João Vasconcelos complete the written question addressed to the Government through the Ministry of Health, stating that the executive led by António Costa “should instruct CHUA to make a correct count of points and time of service to all nurses, whether they are CTFP or CIT».

Also the Union of Portuguese Nurses it has already gone public accusing the CHUA administration of "stealing" years of service" and "failing the commitments it made in relation to career advancement" from these health professionals.

Contacted by Sul Informação, the University Hospital Center of the Algarve declined to comment on the case.
